How To Clean A Yoga Mat?

Listed below are our simple cleaning tips to help you keep your Yoga Mat in great shape for your practice. Depending on the intensity of your practice, we recommend a gentle clean every 7–10 practices, as follows:

a) Add 3-5 pumps of the Liforme Everyday Cleaner* to a damp soft sponge and apply evenly across the entire surface of the mat.

b) Leave to soak in for 30 seconds and then take a clean damp sponge and wipe over the surface.

c) Leave to dry flat. Avoid drying the mat in direct sunlight as the mat is biodegradable and therefore, photo-sensitive.

d) Roll up your Liforme Mat with the colour side facing outwards, and store it in space at room temperature.

*If you don't have the Liforme Yoga Mat Cleaner you can use a small drop of dish soap diluted in plenty of water instead.

What Is The Best Yoga Mat For Beginners?

The best Yoga Mat for beginners should offer a combination of support, comfort, and durability to transform your practice from day one. At Liforme, we understand the importance of starting your Yoga journey with the right foundation. Our beginner-friendly Yoga mats were designed to provide excellent grip, stability, and cushioning to help you maintain poses with confidence and ease.

All Liforme Yoga mats feature a unique alignment guide that help beginners to correctly position their hands and feet, promoting proper alignment and reducing the risk of injury. With a Liforme Yoga mat, beginners can focus on deepening their practice without worrying about slipping or discomfort.

How Thick Should A Yoga Mat Be?

When choosing a Yoga mat thickness, it's essential to find the right balance between comfort and stability for your practice.

For most Yogis, a standard thickness of around 4 to 5mm provide sufficient cushioning for joints while still allowing for a stable foundation during poses. This thickness offers a comfortable surface for seated and kneeling poses, as well as enough support for standing poses.

On the other hand, if you prioritise portability, you might prefer a thinner Liforme Travel Yoga Mat, which are around 2mm thick. These thinner mats much lighter than Liforme's Regular Yoga mats, making them ideal for the on the go Yogi.

If you prefer extra cushioning for sensitive joints or a softer feel underfoot, you may opt one of Liforme's Yoga Pad's, which can be used on top of any mat, for additional padding. Ideal for anyone seeking extra support during their practice.

Explore our range of Yoga mats at Liforme to find the perfect thickness for your practice, ensuring you have the support and comfort you need to elevate your Yoga journey.

What Is the Best Yoga Mat Material?

The best Yoga mat material is one that offers the perfect balance of grip, durability, sustainability, and comfort for your practice. The majority of Yoga Mats are made from PVC, a material
that is highly ill-suited to Yoga: due to its low-quality slippery surface and inefficient biodegradability.

Liforme, prioritise the use of eco-friendly materials that transform your Yoga experience while minimising environmental impact. Liforme designed their own unique unique eco-polyurethane top surface, a non-toxic, PVC-free material that provides exceptional grip and support. This innovative material prevents slips during even during the most challenging of poses.

In addition to this, the natural rubber foundation of a Liforme Yoga Mat provide excellent traction and cushioning, ensuring a stable foundation for your practice, whilst being planet friendly and biodegradable in 1-5 years.

How Long Is A Yoga Mat?

The length of a Yoga mat can vary depending on individual needs and preferences. Liforme, offer Yoga mats in various lengths and sizes to accommodate all needs and styles.

Regular Yoga mats typically measure around 68 to 72 inches in length, providing ample space for most Yoga poses, including standing, seated, and reclined postures. This length is suitable for Yogis of average height and offers enough room to move comfortably without feeling restricted during practice.

For taller individuals or those who prefer extra space for extended poses or dynamic movements, we also offer extra-long yoga mats, which are 210cm in length. These longer mats provide added room to stretch out comfortably and can accommodate taller practitioners without their limbs extending beyond the mat's edges.

What Size Yoga Mat Do I Need?

The size of Yoga mat you need depends on your height, preference, and the space you have for practice.

Regular Liforme Yoga Mats are 72 inches (180 cm) long and 26 inches (68 cm) wide, suitable for most practitioners. Taller individuals or those who prefer extra room may opt for Liforme's XL Yoga Mats, which up to 82 inches (210 cm) in length and 27 inches(70cm) wide.

If you prioritise portability or have limited space for your practice, you may opt for a smaller Yoga mat, such as Liforme's Travel Mats, which are 70 inches (180cm) long and 25 inches (66cm) wide. These compact mats are lightweight and easy to transport, making them ideal for travel or smaller practice spaces.

Consider your height and comfort during practice when choosing the right size for your Yoga mat.

How Wide Is A Yoga Mat?

When it comes to the width of a Yoga mat, the standard measurement is typically around 24 inches. This width however, can result in some Yogis feeling restrained and restricted during their practice. Liforme Yoga Mats on the other hand, understand that individual preferences and body sizes vary, which is why they offer a range of Yoga mats to accommodate diverse needs.

Regular Liforme Yoga Mats are 26 inches (68 cm) wide and their Liforme's XL Yoga Mats, are 27 inches (70cm) wide, perfect for accommodating those with a larger frame.

The width of a Yoga mat ultimately depends on personal preference and body size. Wider mats offer more room for movement and stability, which can be beneficial for certain practices or larger individuals. Narrower mats are more portable but may feel cramped for some Yogis during certain poses.
